Early 19th Century Regency Tilt Top Rosewood Centre Table of Octagonal Form

A rare early 19th century Regency tilt top rosewood centre table of octagonal form.

This table has a sophisticated design, has a superb patina (colour) and is in very good condition.

The table consists of mirrored rosewood veneers to the top with rosewood stringing followed by brass stringing with a rosewood cross banding. This is followed by more brass stringing, a straight grained rosewood banding with a thin brass moulding to the edge of the top (which is applied to mahogany), finally with a mahogany edge underneath.

The top is supported by a superb column consisting of a mahogany block with original brass catch supported by a rosewood and fluted brass column with ormolu acanthus mounts of fine quality.

This leads down to a fine quality circular ormolu collar decorated with scrolling and anthemion designs and supported by a circular block inlaid with rosewood and brass stringing.

The tri-form base consists of three shaped splayed legs inlaid with brass stringing decoration with applied brass star shaped paterae and terminating with hairy paw ormolu castors.

This table is of superb quality, patina (colour) and condition and would grace any home or collection.
