This table would have been used in a country property in France as a side table / small refectory table. The table features a beautiful rustic chestnut top with a lovely grain configuration. Geometric carved design adorns the frieze of the table. Below, four very pretty tapered legs support the table. The style of the frieze and leg are typical of the Basque region of Southern France. The table frame has been painted in antique cream colour paint. The table has been handmade using the pegged construction method. The table will seat up to four people and is sufficiently tall enough to fit your legs underneath and is sufficiently wide to accommodate serving dishes in the centre of the table.
This table top boasts a rich chestnut colour. As the top boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
Condition Report:
This table is in excellent condition, considering the age of the item. There are several old use marks to the top of the table (see photos). Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and legs but nothing significant considering the age of the item. As the top boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination to the tabletop. The base has recently been painted in a traditional antique cream paint. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
