Early 18th Century Oak Adjustable Candle Stand. C. 1720

Description

Early 18th century oak adjustable candle stand. Tripod base with hollow turned stem and octagonal top. The octagonal top with moulded edge.

The inner stem attaches to the top via the original block. The stem is held in place via the very nice original wooden locking screw.

The stem is worn, obviously, and for the table to work properly it would really need replacing but it seems a shame as it is original.

There are one or two old restorations as to be expected, mainly to the legs and the bottom of the stem but nothing detrimental to the piece.

Retains a good colour and patination from years of waxing.

The top is 16" wide.
