The fore edges are also veneered in rosewood. The interior is crossbanded and has a felt lining. Beneath the top, the front apron is very stylish with double acanthus leaves in the centre held together by a carved ribbon and on either side are two carved flower heads in full relief. From this the apron runs up and finishes with a circular end with a carved roundel. It is very simple and elegant, giving the tables a very stylish look. There is a small well beneath the top for storage. The tables stand on an octagonal tapering column which is veneered in rosewood also. At the base of this is an egg and dart beading and block which follows the same form as the column and tapers out at the base. This sits on a raised platform with concave facing and extreme cutout sides. From this protrude four sabre legs finishing on very stylish gilded brass feet in the form of foliate, on large cast brass castors. The pair of tables are in excellent condition, stylish, elegant and sturdy. Wonderful example of Regency style and elegance.
