Regency Mahogany Antique Drop Leaf Table

This fine Regency Mahogany Antique Drop Leaf Table dates from ca. 1830. The top consists of a central section and two drop leaves all with reeded edges and supported by shaped, hinged brackets when fully extended. Beneath the top, on either side, can be found two drawer fronts, one being real while the other is faux. They both have brass handles and cockbeaded edges. The table is an ideal size to sit against a wall as a console table when not in use but could comfortably seat four to six people when fully open. It stands on elegant turned reeded legs and is finished with brass castors. It does show some signs of old restoration work, but only to the expert eye and nothing that detracts from its beauty. The mahogany is a rich shade with a striking grain, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
