This is a very good quality and completely original antique English oak George III side table, circa 1780. This table would have been used in a country property in in England during the late 18th Century. The table features a thumb mouled two-piece pegged top. Below, there is a single working drawer, which features a scribe moulding to the perimeter and oak hand dovetailed drawer linings. Below the drawer is primitive shaped apron. The drawer boasts the original bass swan neck and escutcheon handles along with the original lock and key. The table has been handmade using the pegged construction method; this is evident on the top and the frame of the table. The table stands on four small elegant chamfered legs. The table boasts a superb mellow oak colour and is in excellent original condition.

This item features a mellow brown oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Condition Report:

This table is in excellent original condition. There are no stains or cup marks to the top of the table. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The working drawer features its original brass escutcheons and brass handles which is rare to see with an item of this age. The drawer is in good working order and closes flush to the frame. The drawer also features the original working lock and there is also a working key. As the table boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination. This table is solid in joint and ready to use.

Knee height = 60cm or 23 5/8” or 1ft 11 5/8”

Width = 83.5cm or 32 7/8” or 2ft 8 7/8”

Depth = 49.2cm or 19 3/8” or 1ft 7 3/8”
