An Exceptional Satinwood Occasional Table

An exceptional late Victorian/early 20th century satinwood occasional table. The trefoil top has beautifully hand-painted decoration consisting of flower garlands, ribbons, and a central motif of musical instruments, a book, and sprigs of foliage. The frieze beneath has similar adornments and is supported by three gently tapering legs united by three scrolling stretchers to a tripartite undertier. This example has had all of its joints attended to, with old glue being carefully removed and the table being professionally rebuilt to provide years of useful service. Its original finish remains untouched and it has a superb colour and a rich glowing patination. This wonderful satinwood table is English, c.1890s – c.1910.
