A Fine Marquetry Inlaid Demi-lune Card Table

Description

An excellent quality late 18th century "Demi-Lune" CARD TABLE in good condition, profusely marquetry inlaid and cross-banded with fans and string inlay to the top.

It opens with its twin gate leg action to form a round table, revealing the baize-lined interior whilst the frieze is finely inlaid with satinwood fans; mahogany diamonds and rosewood banding, with further hardwood and purple-heart inlay above each of the tapering legs. These legs are themselves inlaid with satinwood reeding on a background of green-stained harewood, leading to block feet.
