Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The piece is stamped with the number 22260; such a stamp is commonly found on a Gillows piece and the quality of the table matches that expected from such a renowned maker although the Gillows mark itself is not visible, this however is not uncommon. The top is in a serpentine shape with a moulded edge with beautiful figuring and sits above a shaped flamed mahogany apron. The front legs are ornately hand carved while the back legs are simple and sturdy in design. The base is shaped and provides the perfect finish for this 'true' console table. The mahogany is a gorgeous rich medium shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
