Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1800s.
Constructed throughout of Gonzales Alves (a timber greatly favoured by Gillows) this lovely table, with its turned baluster gallery all around, has a central circular cover which when removed (via a clever push-rod access below) reveals the dished space in which to plant small bulbs or flowers.

Gillows is known to have made such tables, and it was this firm of fine cabinetmakers that used the term "Crocus Tables". Copies of drawings of a similar table available.
