A Lovely Sheraton Period Satinwood Demi-lune Card Table

Description

A particularly fine quality late 18th century Sheraton period satinwood DEMI-LUNE CARD TABLE of lovely warm colour.

In lovely condition, this good table is veneered in beautifully figured West Indian satinwood and cross-banded with rosewood between multiple string inlay. The top opens to reveal the (replaced) maroon baize playing surface, whilst the frieze, also in satinwood, is inlaid with 'panels' and shaped cartouches above each of the tapering legs.

These tapering legs, which include the double-gateleg action to the rear, are also inlaid with stringing, and it measures 38ins wide; 18ins deep front to back. (96.5 x 45.75cms). A gorgeous and elegant example of a very desirable Sheraton period table.
