Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The top has boxwood string inlay and swivels round to allow the ‘envelope’ to be opened and supported by the base. Once opened the top has a green baize playing surface and carved out gaming wells. The base has a central drawer with original brass handle and sits on four tapering legs with unusual shaped cross stretcher topped with a detailed brass finial. The antique table is finished with squared brass castors. It is a medium mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
