This is an attractive and very good quality antique George III mahogany 2ft 8” wide side table, circa 1780 - 1800.

This is an attractive and very good quality antique George III mahogany 2ft 8” wide side table, circa 1780 - 1800. The table features a lovely single piece solid mahogany top that is finished with thumb moulded edging. The hand-dovetailed drawer features a cushion front (sign of quality), a brass key escutcheon and a working lock & key. Inside the drawer, the sides are oak lined and drawer bottom is constructed of pine. The drawer features the original brass swan neck handles. Below, there is a very pretty shaped frieze. Four chamfered legs (another sign of quality) support the table. The table boasts a superb rich colour and patination to the mahogany.

Dimensions:

Height = 72.7cm or 2ft 4½”

Width = 80cm or 2ft 7½”

Depth = 39cm or 1ft 3¼”

Condition Report:

This item is in very god condition considering its age. There are no stains or cup marks to the top of the table. Nominal old use marks and wear to the leading edges, specifically the front left corner (see photo). The drawer features its original brass swan neck handles and lock. The drawer is in good working order and closes flush to the frame. The drawer features a working lock and key. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
