A Regency Reading or Music Stand

19th century
Description

An unusual Regency period mahogany and satinwood music or reading stand. The octagonal top with crossbanded and ebony and boxwood stringing. Reeed book/folio rest with brass page retainers. The top has an oak support with angle adgustment with also lifts up and down with a brass collar screw lock.

The column is turned mahogany and the swept feet have satinwood inlay. (One leg has been broken and repaired long ago the satinwood inlay has been repalaced in this area). Original brass ball feet.

The octagonal top measures 43cm wide by 33 high.

The max height the stand adjusts to is 96cm at book rest height. With the top at its lowest and horizontal (it can be used as a wine table like this) it measures 72 high.

The leg spread is approx 50 cms.
