This is a superb quality set of three Arts & Crafts period chequered oak parquetry, cross-banded with stained ebony and walnut tops, boasting great proportions, circa 1880 - 1910.
The centres of the tabletops are designed with an oak chequered parquetry. Surrounding the parquetry, the tabletops are cross-banded with stained walnut and then there is a further band of walnut to the perimeter. Each of the three tables slides comfortably into each other. A classic shaped arts and crafts leg supports the nest of tables, which feature a carved star in each of the legs. The legs are further supported by cross stretchers and splayed feet. The nest of tables boast a rich golden oak colour and they are in excellent robust condition. This is an extremely useful piece of furniture and a great asset to have in any office, living room or hallway and it consumes very little space.
It has a beautiful deep rich golden oak patina, which has been generated by the years of cleaning and care it has received. This truly is a very beautiful item with quality construction and is original throughout.
Condition Report:
This nest of tables is in excellent robust condition. Nominal old use marks to the tabletops and leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The tables slide into each other smoothly. The polish finish in excellent condition and there is no missing cross-banding, ebony or chequered parquetry to the tabletops. The legs are sturdy and there have been no breaks to the legs, stretchers or feet. This item is free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
