This is an attractive and very good quality antique Victorian 3ft oak and leather writing library side table, circa 1870 – 1890. The tabletop features a good quality green leather with gold tooling around the edges. To the outsides of the top, there is an oak thumb moulded surround, which overhangs the table base. Below the top, there are elegant wooden bracket supports each side of the drawer. One side of the table features a working moulded drawer front. This drawer features the original turned knobs, working lock and key. The drawer is lined in mahogany, which is a good sign of quality. This style of table was designed to be freestanding in a library or office. This is way at the back of the back of the table; there is a dummy drawer in the same style as the front. The table stands on lovely ring turned legs, which terminate in the original brass and white ceramic mug castors
Condition Report:
This table is in excellent condition. There is no damage, stains or marks to the leather top. The polish to the oak top and table frame is in excellent condition. The working drawer closes flush to the frame. The table features the original castors, original working drawer, original drawer knobs, and original lock and working key. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
