Fine Quality Early 20thc Walnut Card Table in the Queen Anne Style

A fine quality early 20th century walnut card table in the Queen Anne style.

The table top has good quality mirrored walnut veneers with shaped & rounded corners.

The frieze is also veneered with good quality walnut curl veneer.

This is supported by four finely carved cabriole legs each consisting of a finely carved scrolled acanthus design terminating with rosette decoration, leading down to finely carved ball & claw foot.

The table top opens up as a card or games table, displaying an unusual and wonderful quality piece of needlework instead of the more common baize.

This is in excellent condition for its age and consists of a floral decoration to the edge with a central design of playing cards and counters.

The four circular corner sections are candle holders, not to be mistaken for guinea wells.

The candle holders have been included in the design of this table, keeping it authentic to the design of a Queen Anne(early 18thc) table, although probably not necessary in a practical way.

When this table was actually made, in the early 20thc, candles were being used less as electric light was more commonly used.

This table is of sound construction and can go straight into a home.
