The table top is constructed of six single solid cherry wood planks and finished with a cleated edge, dowelled and pegged tenons (these are all signs of good quality). The table sits on four tapered rung turned and pegged legs. The table extends from 6ft 7” to a massive 12ft 10” long when both leaves are fully extended. Each of the two leaves feature rebated sliding runners on the underside of the leaves, which slide into the main table. These runners are very strong. To further support the table when fully extended, there is a hinged tapered additional leg, which drops down to support the end of the table. When the leaves are pushed back into the table, this leg swings up and slots into the underside of the table for conspicuous storage. All three sections of the tabletop are detachable; there are the two leaves and top section which all lift off the table carcass; this makes for easy transportation or access into any house or for adjusting the length of the table for dinner parties. The tabletop and base are all original. The tabletop features a superb colour and grain configuration. The table seat between 16 – 18 people and is sufficiently tall enough to fit your legs underneath and is sufficiently wide enough to accommodate serving dishes in the centre of the table.
