This is a fantastic quality antique French five-plank solid chestnut refectory farmhouse 8ft 9” table, circa 1860. This table would have been constructed during the period of the 2nd Empire in France for use in the provinces. The table top is constructed of five single chestnut planks and finished with a cleated edge, dowelled and pegged tenons (these are all signs of good quality). The table sits on four tapered and pegged legs. The table features a detachable extending leaf, which is handy for dinner parties. The tabletop and base are original. The tabletop features a superb colour and grain configuration. The table seat between 10 – 12 people and is sufficiently tall enough to fit your legs underneath and is sufficiently wide to accommodate serving dishes in the centre of the table.

Condition Report:
In very good condition commensurate with age. The table features the original top, base and legs. The table boasts a fantastic colour / patination. Nominal old use marks but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The table stands firm on the floor and it does not wobble. Free of active woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.

UK Returns & Refunds:
A 7-day “no quibble” return policy (from the date you receive the item) is available if you are not happy with this item. You will be given a refund excluding the delivery cost as long as the item is returned in the same condition. The buyer is not required to cover the cost of returning the item if the item is returned at the point of delivery. If the item is delivered and left with the customer, a return fee will apply (which is the same cost as the delivery fee). We only will collect returns using our own specialist furniture delivery company. We will not accept returns via a courier service (due to experience of damaged items in transit).
