Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1870s.
It has a solid oak top with four central removable leaves and owns an unusual double wind-out mechanism along with winding handle. The top has been finished with a moulded edge and rounded corners and stands on four chunky turned bulbous legs with sturdy castors. This grand antique table can seat between 14-16 people at its maximum length of just over 12ft although it can always be set up to a variety of more modest sizes if so desired. It has aged to a lovely golden shade of oak and is full of charm and character with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
