French Kingwood Side Table of Good Quality

A very decorative good quality early 20thc French Kingwood side table.

This table consists of an attractiive top with a central cedar panel, with boxwood stringing and a Kingwood banding.

Surrounding the top is a brass & gilt pierced gallery with an arch design & underneath this a gallery design of swags & tails.

The single drawer has an inverted Kingwood veneered panel with an escutcheon plate and an ormolu moulding surrounding this.

The drawer is mahogany lined with dovetails, see photograph 2.

Either side of the central panel are two round ormolu handles in the form of a laurel wreath design. Surrounding the ormolu moulding on the drawer is a straight grain walnut veneer.

The side & back panels also have a veneered Kingwood panel, with the same ormolu moulding as the drawer, all encased within a straight grain walnut .

At the top of the walnut legs are decorative ormolu mounts leading down to tapered legs with a square moulded ormolu capping.

The legs have boxwood stringing & decorative ormolu mounts of a bow & flower design.

The piece terminates with a square, tapered & moulded ormolu foot of an acanthus & laurel leaf design.

The ormolu centrepiece see in photograph 1 is not included in this price.

This table is of both good condition & stable construction & can go straight into a property.
