A Tiny Georgian Mahogany Dropleaf Supper Table

19th century
Description

A highly unusual country made mahogany dropleaf dining or supper table of diminutive proportions. I would think the master of the house had this made by a local carpenter for his children to dine at whilst the adults sat at the much larger version. The size makes it ideal as a bay window table between two upholstered chairs. The carcass is in oak the gateleg knuckle joints are typical for the period as are the iron hinges. The pad feet and legs are proporionately correct and the timber grain is good. The choice of timber for the top is not of the best and the oval shape is a little irregular. One leaf has a slight warp which is not of great consequence. One rule joint has been crudely repaired in 2 places above the hinges..typically seen on these tables.

92cms(36inches) wide when open by 71(28'')

62cm high (24 1/2'') 22cms (8 1/2'')closed.

Uk mainland packing and delivery £ 80.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
