Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1910 Art Nouveau Royal Doulton jardiniere and stand comprises a ceramic jardiniere resting on a tall matching pedestal base. The set uses glazed stoneware finished in navy blue, green, brown, and white, decorated with acanthus leaves, floral sprays, scrolling detail, a scalloped rim, and beaded trim. Stamped to the base, the object shows relief moulded decoration and detailed turning along the column, with a wide circular foot at the bottom. The complete assembly stands 104 cm high, 35 cm wide, and 35 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this jardiniere and stand functions as a display piece in an empty corner, a hallway, or a sunlit conservatory. It provides an elevated platform for indoor house plants or floral arrangements while adding a decorative vertical accent to interior spaces.

FAQs

Produced during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, Royal Doulton jardinieres featured the organic, flowing forms characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement. Manufactured predominantly at the Lambeth studio in London, these ceramic vessels were designed to showcase indoor foliage in domestic interiors.

Antique jardinieres of this period were typically crafted from salt-glazed or lead-glazed stoneware. The decoration involved hand-moulded relief work, impressed incised patterns, and slip-cast details fired at high temperatures to achieve durable, moisture-resistant surfaces.

Authentic pieces feature impressed factory backstamps on the underside, such as the Royal Doulton circular lion mark or Doulton Lambeth stamp. They often include impressed shape numbers, pattern codes, and incised monograms belonging to specific studio artists or decorators.

A two-piece ceramic jardiniere stand functions as an architectural focal point in empty corners, foyers, or sunrooms. Pairing the decorative vessel with vibrant indoor greenery, such as ferns or monstera, creates a contrast between historic ceramic craftsmanship and contemporary living elements.

Clean glazed stoneware using a soft microfiber cloth and mild warm water. Avoid harsh chemical cleansers, abrasive pads, or submerging porous unglazed areas, and keep the ceramic indoors to prevent thermal shock and frost damage.
