Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These Meissen porcelain cornucopia wall vases from the 1870 Rococo period display a distinctive curved horn shape with fluted rims and gilded scroll accents. The white porcelain surface is decorated with hand-painted multicolour floral sprays, including pink roses and yellow blooms, alongside pale blue enamel borders and gold leaf detailing. The vases measure 32 cm high, 20 cm wide, and 11 cm deep. Display these decorative wall vases in a hallway or another narrow wall space within a home today to hold small floral arrangements or dried stems. The matching pair provides a symmetrical arrangement on a living room or dining room wall, bringing a French Chateau interior design aesthetic to domestic spaces.

FAQs

A cornucopia wall vase, also known as a wall pocket, is a decorative vessel shaped like a horn of plenty designed to be mounted on a vertical surface. Originating in 18th and 19th-century European porcelain factories, these pieces often feature intricate Rococo moulding, fluted rims, and delicate floral hand-painting.

Antique wall pockets were typically slip-cast or mould-formed using fine hard-paste porcelain. After an initial bisque firing, artisans applied hand-painted enamel botanical motifs and liquid gold highlights before a secondary glaze firing to seal the decoration.

Authentic Meissen porcelain pieces feature the signature underglaze blue crossed swords mark painted on the unglazed reverse or base prior to firing. Additionally, genuine historical examples display high-definition relief moulding, precise hand-painted floral details, and age-appropriate wear to the gilding.

Wall pockets can be displayed flanking a mantelpiece mirror, arranged within a decorative wall gallery, or mounted in a hallway to add vertical detail. They can be left empty as architectural ceramic accents or dressed with dried floral arrangements.

Clean porcelain wall pockets using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or an ostrich feather duster to remove dust. Avoid submerging in water or using abrasive chemicals, as harsh detergents can wear away delicate overglaze enamel painting and gilding.
