Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

First designed in the mid-18th century, a Pembroke table is a compact occasional table featuring two drop leaves that can be raised on brackets to expand the surface area. Typically equipped with a shallow drawer, it was designed for versatile use in living rooms, bedrooms, and dining spaces.

19th-century Pembroke tables were primarily constructed using fine hardwoods such as rosewood, mahogany, and walnut, often accented with brass castors and turned pedestal bases. Frame interiors and drawer linings frequently utilised oak or pine secondary timbers.

Authentic 19th-century pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, natural timber patina, and distinct grain patterns characteristic of genuine rosewood. Look for period-correct support brackets under the leaves, turned or carved central pedestals, and original brass or carved feet.

Position the table beside a sofa or armchair as an elegant side table, using a contemporary lamp or decorative ceramics to create visual balance. Its drop-leaf functionality allows it to adapt easily to compact living spaces or reading nooks.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year following the timber grain. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent the wood from fading or warping.
