Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Horn furniture gained popularity across Europe during the mid-to-late nineteenth century, particularly within German, Austrian, and Victorian sporting circles. Craftsmen utilised horns from cattle and game to create novelty tables, chairs, and hall stands destined for hunting lodges and country estates.

Authentic pieces typically feature polished or natural animal horns mounted to a wooden core, often upholstered in animal hide, leather, or velvet. Trimming details commonly include brass studs, metal ferrules, and turned timber stretchers to stabilize the structure.

Authentic nineteenth-century examples display natural variations in horn texture, genuine age-related patination on metal fixings, and historical joinery methods such as hand-cut screws or square-headed tacks. Original hide elements will show natural wear rather than uniform modern synthetic backing.

A horn table serves as a strong tactile focal point when paired with understated contemporary seating or positioned within a curated gallery space. It complements dark wood panelling, textured woven textiles, and neutral colour schemes that allow the sculptured silhouette to stand out.

Keep horn furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent cracking or warping of the natural keratin. Clean carefully with a soft dry cloth and apply specialized microcrystalline wax to exposed horn and metalwork to protect against moisture loss and oxidisation.
