M Lees and Sons has dated this piece to the 1860s.
The rising hinged lid enclosing multiple lidded compartments and divisions all brightly decorated in gilt . The centre tray lifting out to reveal a shallow ‘well’ beneath , the frieze having a framed pull-out red silk fabric bag .

Raised on shaped ope-work ends joined by a stretcher all with corresponding gilt decoration on the black lacquer ground . The end supports raised on well-carved gilded dragons’ claw feet .
The top of the lid with central Chinese landscape scene whilst the edges having borders or scrolling cloud and dragon decoration.

In excellent original condition, no no damage, losses or repairs. The decoration to the top showing some wear commensurate with age and use .
A highly decorative Chinese lacquer table to add an exotic oriental accent to an interior scheme. This type of table and associated types of lacquer ware were produced in China for export to the West to supply the demands for fashionable exotic and luxurious oriental goods .
