This late 17th century Japanese Arita tokuri, or drinking flask, takes a square form in off-white porcelain. The hand-painted polychrome enamel decoration includes red, blue, green, and orange floral foliage, a raised Shishi lion relief upon a rocky outcrop, and a corner spout with red detailing. The piece measures 19 cm high, 9 cm wide, and 9 cm deep. Display this flask on a sideboard top in a living area or dining space to bring period character and colour to a room. The sturdy porcelain construction makes it suitable for everyday placement as a decorative accent or curated display object.

A tokuri is a traditional Japanese vessel historically designed for serving sake, crafted from porcelain or earthenware in various geometric or bulbous forms.

Traditional tokuri are crafted from high-fired porcelain or stoneware, decorated using underglaze cobalt blue along with overglaze polychrome enamels and gilding.

Authentic pieces feature signs of hand-shaping, subtle irregularities in the glaze, hand-painted underglaze and overglaze details, and characteristic wear to unglazed base surfaces.

Display a tokuri as a singular accent piece on a bookshelf, styling console table, or open kitchen shelving to add historic Asian craftsmanship and texture.

Clean gently using lukewarm water and a mild non-abrasive detergent, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, immersion of damaged areas, or automated dishwashers.
