Rob Hall Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The wear to the replaced leg suggests this was probably carried out in the earlier part of the 19th century. Under the shaped slab top there are signs of old nails and material where the top appears to have been covered at some point, although why the truly exceptional colour would be covered is unclear. This appears also to be historic. This is much rarer example in an octagonal form than is normally seen.
