Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the nineteenth century, British potteries began mass-producing utilitarian kitchenware using earthenware and simple transfer printing or hand-painted slips. Items were frequently labelled with explicit text, such as PIE or BUTTER, to identify their purpose in traditional country sculleries.

Traditional pie dishes were made from dense earthenware or stoneware clay, which provided even heat distribution during baking. They were finished with clear or coloured glazes to seal the porous clay and make the surface liquid-resistant.

Authentic pieces generally show signs of age, including fine surface glaze crazing, slight irregularities in form, stilt marks from kiln firing, and hand-applied blue or black lettering beneath the glaze.

Display the dish vertically on open wooden shelving, style it inside a country dresser, or place it on a kitchen island as a decorative holder for fruit or kitchen sundries.

Wash by hand using warm water and a mild dish soap, avoiding immersion for extended periods. Do not place antique glazed earthenware in modern dishwashers, microwaves, or high-heat ovens to prevent cracking and further glaze deterioration.
