Description

A Victorian walnut writing table of modest proportions, with a raised gallery superstructure set over a frieze fitted with two working side drawers flanking a false central drawer front, all raised on turned legs, united by a shaped undertier.

The base form and false centre drawer suggest it began life as a washstand, adapted in period for writing use with the addition of the gallery, and it now functions comfortably as a compact writing desk suited to a bedroom, dressing room or living space.

Very good antique condition with some wear and patination consistent with age, including some veneer bubbling to the top. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place.
