Wonderful Colour Late 18th-Century George III Mahogany & Satinwood String Inlaid Fold-Over Tea Table A superb late 18th-century George III mahogany fold-over tea table, of elegant D-shaped form, finely inlaid throughout with satinwood stringing and banding. The top is crafted from beautifully figured flame mahogany with delicate satinwood inlay, and hinges open to reveal an interior of rich, unfaded mahogany with exposed brass hinges, all in excellent original condition. The frieze incorporates a full-length mahogany drawer, again detailed with satinwood stringing, and lined in oak, a hallmark of quality Georgian cabinetmaking. The table stands on four refined, square tapering legs, all inlaid, with the back legs hinged to swing out and support the top when open.
