Anthony Short Antiques has dated this Georgian Mahogany Tea Table to the 18th Century.
The top is crafted from beautifully figured flame mahogany with delicate satinwood inlay, and hinges open to reveal an interior of rich, unfaded mahogany with exposed brass hinges, all in excellent original condition. The frieze incorporates a full-length mahogany drawer, again detailed with satinwood stringing, and lined in oak, a hallmark of quality Georgian cabinetmaking. The table stands on four refined, square tapering legs, all inlaid, with the back legs hinged to swing out and support the top when open.

This piece showcases outstanding mahogany timber and crisp satinwood inlay, retaining its original colour and mellow patina. Elegant yet practical, it is a wonderful example of late 18th-century design and would make a distinctive focal point in a drawing room, hall or study.
