Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian satinwood writing table is a 19th-century desk crafted from satinwood, noted for its fine grain structure and warm golden tone. These tables typically feature functional frieze drawers, slender turned legs, and small brass or ceramic castors for movement.

Victorian furniture makers utilised native and imported hardwoods, with satinwood selected for its lustrous veneer finish. Construction relied on hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, solid timber framing, and brass fittings paired with ceramic castors.

Authentic period pieces feature period construction methods, including hand-cut dovetail joints inside drawers and original brass or ceramic castors. Look for natural patination, hand-turned legs, and secondary woods like pine or oak used for inner drawer linings.

Position a Victorian writing table as a dedicated workstation within a living area, bedroom, or hallway. Pair the warm wood tones with contemporary table lamps, minimalist seating, and neutral accessories to complement period craftsmanship.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish periodically to protect the timber finish. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying or discolouration of the satinwood veneer.
