A Victorian Parian ware bust depicting the Greek goddess Clytie, produced in England circa 1870. Unmarked, the piece is crafted in unglazed porcelain to simulate the appearance of marble, a technique typical of Parian ware. The sculptural detail captures Clytie with downcast eyes and classical drapery, resting on a turned pedestal base. A popular subject during the mid to late 19th century, this decorative bust would have been displayed as an affordable alternative to carved marble statuary.
