We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Farmhouse tables traditionally originated as utilitarian work surfaces in large country kitchens, characterised by sturdy wooden construction, generous proportions, and functional stretcher bases designed for daily domestic use.

Authentic pieces are typically constructed from solid quarter-sawn English or European oak, utilizing traditional joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon joints, pegged frames, and hand-turned legs.

Authentication involves examining tool marks, timber shrinkage, natural patination, and wear patterns around the edges and stretcher base, which indicate age rather than artificial distressing.

Pairing a heavy timber table with contemporary seating or minimalist lighting creates a balanced contrast that highlights the natural grain and historical texture within a contemporary space.

Preservation requires maintaining consistent indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, cleaning with a damp cloth, and periodically nourishing the timber with traditional beeswax to protect the finish.
