Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Victorian games tables gained popularity during the 19th century as domestic entertaining became a central part of middle and upper-class social life, often featuring fold-over tops to accommodate card games and chess.

These tables were typically constructed from dense hardwoods like mahogany or rosewood, frequently utilising hand-cut dovetail joints, turned pedestals, and quadruple-sabot or scroll feet for stability.

Authenticity is determined by inspecting the timber shrinkage, hand-cut joinery, original brass hinges, and the natural patina developed on the wood surfaces over decades of use.

An antique games table functions effectively as a console or occasional surface in a living room or study, paired with contemporary seating to create a balanced contrast between old and new.

Maintain antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and clean it periodically using a soft, dry cloth without harsh chemical polishes.
