There were likely drawers in each end of the table which have been removed at some point to allow for more legroom underneath the table.
It is a good large size, comfortably seating 6-8, with leg clearance of 23 1/2" (60cm) at the sides and slightly less at the ends.
The table has a lot of character and a wonderful patina. There are various marks and signs of age and use on the top but it displays beautifully. There are a few old historic woodworm holes which has all been treated as a precaution. There have been repairs and restorations over the years including new tips on the legs but it all adds to the history and character of the piece. The table has been cleaned and gently polished to retain its patina and it is ready for use.
