FAQs

Preserve antique walnut by maintaining stable room humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent veneer fading, and periodically applying microcrystalline wax to nourish and protect the polished wooden surface.

An antique Victorian table can function as a focal point in a modern setting by pairing it with minimalist upholstery and neutral textiles to create a balanced contrast between historical craftsmanship and contemporary design.

Authenticity is determined by examining timber grain consistency, hand-cut joinery methods, period-appropriate patination, and the presence of underlying secondary woods typical of nineteenth-century manufacturing practices.

Victorian tables frequently utilised solid timber frames with high-grade veneer surfaces like burr walnut or mahogany, often enhanced by intricate marquetry or brass inlay, supported by hand-carved cabriole or turned legs.

Victorian furniture encompasses a range of revival styles produced during the reign of Queen Victoria, generally characterised by substantial proportions, ornate detailing, and the use of rich timbers such as walnut, mahogany, and rosewood.
