Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The George III style, spanning from 1760 to 1820, is characterised by classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and a transition from heavy mahogany designs influenced by Thomas Chippendale to lighter, neoclassical forms inspired by Robert Adam.

Cabinet makers predominantly used solid mahogany, oak for secondary framing, and hand-cut dovetail joints, often incorporating brass hardware and hand-rubbed wax finishes to protect and enhance the timber grain.

Authentic pieces display period-appropriate tool marks, such as hand-sawn boards and irregular dovetails, natural wax patination accumulated over centuries, and shrinkage cracks consistent with aged timber.

Pairing historical timber pieces with contemporary upholstery, minimalist lighting, and neutral walls creates a balanced interior that highlights the rich warmth and texture of the wood without overwhelming the room.

Maintain antique wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the surface and prevent the timber from drying out.
