Nesting tables, or quartetto tables as they were historically known, gained popularity during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, designed to save space while providing multiple surfaces for entertaining.

Fine cabinet makers typically utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, and satinwood, often featuring hand-cut dovetail joints and polished wax finishes.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-turned components, natural timber shrinkage, and historic patina rather than uniform machine processing and modern synthetic varnishes.

They can be displayed stacked together in an empty corner as a sculptural element or separated beside seating areas to provide flexible surface space.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and applying a traditional beeswax polish sparingly when necessary.
