Lee Wright Antiques & Interiors Ltd has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The piece has a silver gilt finish, something that would probably have been used on many of the late 17th and early 18th century tables. The table stands on four fine cabriole legs with leaf carved feet. It has two drawers in the frieze as well as a pair of pull out slides, probably originally designed to support candlesticks.

Every surface of this fine piece is beautifully decorated with cut gesso decoration. It is highly likely that this piece was made to coordinate with an existing earlier gesso piece in a fine house and the table could only have been made by one of a small number of workshops capable of producing work of this complexity and quality.
Remarkable colour and patination throughout. Finished on all sides so it can freestand.
