An Impressive George IV Goncalo Alves 'pillar End' Library Table Attributed To Gillows C.1830

£1,200    $1,626    €1,414
A thumping good table.

An imposing size, nearly 5 feet wide and market fresh. The pillar end form is a recognisible form from the eminent cabinet makers Gillows of Lancaster and London.

It is very well made, and proportioned without extraneous carving. The decorative impact is delivered by the striking and rare goncalo alves (it doesn''t appear on the Vinterior menu, so is listed as rosewood) timber, used as a veneer on the top and in the solid for the pillars. The table runs on counter-sunk brass castors.

Untouched condition and structurally solid. A few minor losses to the veneer around the collar of the base and edge of the top. Some losses to the edge of one foot.

Reliable transport throughout the UK can be eaily arranged at cost price. Please let me know if you would like a quote or have any other questions.
