Table Stunning Rare Marquetry George II Oak C1740

18th century
Description

Here we have a stunning and rare George II inlaid Oak centre table c1740. As you can see the table has great colour and patina. The top has stunning inlaid decoration with a mixture of woods and bone flower heads and birds eyes. The top is so elaborate that it gives you surprises every time you look at it. The top is solid Oak and has a thumb moulded edge. The table being local to us probably came from the Dutch settling carpenters known as 'The Strangers' in Norwich from the late 17th century onwards. There is a single drawer to one side and perfectly executed barley twist legs and a cross stretcher. The centre of the stretcher has an inlaid starburst cartouche. The whole sits on squashed bun feet and brass casters. A super period table in great retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 123 cm wide 86 cm deep 74 cm high.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
