This large nineteenth-century Victorian framed art piece consists of a hand-painted enamel porcelain plaque depicting Renaissance figures, mounted in a heavy carved giltwood frame with egg-and-dart moulding. The decorative work employs rich tones of blue, brown, red and gold, set against neutral stonework backdrops within the narrative scene. The ornate wooden border features intricate repeating floral motifs, gilded finishes and layered stepped mouldings that surround the central figural composition. Signs of age appear in the aged patina of the giltwood and the fine hand-painted brushwork on the porcelain surface. The overall dimensions measure 55 cm high, 60 cm wide, and 10 cm deep in practical terms. This wall-mounted artwork is suitable for hanging above the mantel in a principal reception room, a period study, or a traditional hallway as a focal point.

Produced by the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin (Konigliche Porzellan-Manufaktur), these items are porcelain slabs hand-painted with detailed scenes or portraits before undergoing high-temperature kiln firing.

They feature hard-paste porcelain painted with specialised mineral enamel pigments, fired multiple times to fix the colours, and are typically mounted within carved gilded wood or gesso frames.

Authentic pieces usually display an impressed sceptre mark, the letters K.P.M., and numerical dimensions stamped directly into the unglazed porcelain reverse.

Position the plaque as a focal artwork above a fireplace or console table, pairing it with subtle directional lighting to highlight the enamel texture and metallic frame.

Dust surfaces using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or camel-hair brush; liquid cleansers and moisture must be avoided to protect original gilded finishes and enamel layers.
