Victorian Mahogany Envelope Card Table

Here we have a beautiful solid Mahogany Victorian envelope card table. The quality of this table is exceptional. The top as you can see has an envelope mechanism which is working well as the top is turned so one leaf raises enabling you to open all leaves. Many of these mechanisms are not working which leads to people trying to dig out the leaf from the centre causing nibbles to the corner. The top as with the table as a whole has great colour and patina. There is a shaped frieze to all sides and the most stunningly executed legs I have seen on a table of this type. The stretchers are up turned to hold an undertier which has a lovely moulded edge and shaped sides. There is a single drawer which again is made from solid Mahogany (linings and base) with handcut dovetail joints. The original handle and carved detail as well as the brass and ceramic castors are in place. So we have established that the exterior of this table is both decorative and in beautiful condition. The interior is breathtaking the colour is deep rich and vibrant. The hand turned out wells, original brass hinges, tooled leather edge, and high quality baize set this table apart. There are some very minor signs of age as there should be but overall in fantastic retail condition. A stunning table of remarkable quality and condition ready for your home.
