A Spode Porcelain Bachelors Teapot in Pattern 963 C.1810

Description

A fine and rare Spode porcelain Bachelors Teapot c.1810. The small round-shaped teapot, finely decorated in pattern 963 which was introduced in c.1806.  This fine Chinese or Japanese inspired Imari design probably copied from an original piece of 18th century Export porcelain.  It is all hand-painted & decorated over most of its outer surface and has even more gilding than previous designs.  The enamel colours are again iron-red & cobalt blue with just a touch of green sneaking in , in the form of a pair of birds.

Marked Spode 963 in red to the base. 

Condition: Excellent. Small firing fault around the top of the handle.
