Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Pembroke table is a compact form of drop-leaf table introduced in the 18th century, featuring two hinged leaves that raise on wooden brackets to extend the surface area, often paired with one or two shallow drawers.

Tables from the George IV period typically utilise high-grade dark mahogany, often with flame mahogany veneers, hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, reeded pedestal shafts, and carved splayed feet with brass casters or wood terminal details.

Authentic period pieces display hand-planed secondary timbers like pine or oak, subtle shrinkage marks near glue lines, period-correct drawer construction, and natural age-related patina around original handle mounts and feet.

A Pembroke table functions well as a side table beside a sofa, an entryway accent piece, or a bedside table, balancing modern minimalist upholstery with historic dark timber tones.

Maintain mahogany by dusting regularly with a microfibre cloth, applying high-grade beeswax once or twice annually, and keeping the piece away from direct sunlight, radiators, or moist environments.
