In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Art Deco furniture is characterised by sleek geometric shapes, streamlined forms, and the extensive use of luxurious veneers such as burr walnut and mahogany, often featuring symmetrical patterns.

Pieces from this era typically employed solid secondary hardwoods like mahogany or oak as a structural frame, overlaid with highly figured decorative wood veneers like walnut, finished with hand-rubbed shellac or French polish.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct joinery, natural ageing in the timber and polish, genuine hand-selected veneer matching, and sometimes makers stamps or labels corresponding to notable cabinetmakers of the period.

This type of piece acts as a strong focal point in a contemporary living space, pairing well with neutral upholstery, metallic accents, and minimalist lighting to balance its rich, figured wood grain.

Maintain the timber by keeping it out of direct sunlight, avoiding extreme temperature fluctuations, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying high-quality microcrystalline wax to protect the polished surface.
