Tambour Writing Table by James Shoolbred of London

19th century
Description

Very decorative and beautifully finished tambour top writing table in brass inlaid mahogany by the renowned cabinet maker James Shoolbred of London (Article No 2592A) in the French style, circa 1890 and in super condition.

Such an interesting piece of furniture, whether you leave it opened out on display with the green and gilt tooled leather surface on show, or show it closed with the brass inlaid lid and tambour top closed.

Certainly a talking point and with the action of pulling open the drawer at the base, the tambour top then opens. Nice to see the actual tambour top mahogany is also brass inlaid, a sign of great quality as you would expect from such a maker.

Perhaps best as a laptop or ipad table, but would also work as a gentleman’s dressing table too perhaps.
